Artist duo Yvonne McGuinness and Rhona Byrne’s project The Central Field is a temporary Live Land Artwork taking place over 30 days in March 2018.
The project is based on a site which is due to become the ‘commercial or district town centre’ of Adamstown. Adamstown is a suburban ‘new town’ in South County Dublin which has been in development since 2005.
The Central Field project is responding to this particular site and context during its interim phase of development. Drawing on the idea of an amphitheatre, over a four-week period the artists will produce a series of live and immediate responses, events, performances, interventions, gatherings and activities that adapt throughout the month. The artists are collaborating with residents, local schools and community groups and aim to explore concepts of transition and potential, land use, private and public ownership, intrinsic value, materiality, responsibility and our individual and collective agency.
This website will host the work that they are doing daily on site, in collaboration with the larger community of Adamstown. Please visit the updates section of the website for upcoming gatherings.
Please feel free to browse the website, visit the physical site in Adamstown or get in touch with us through our email firstname.lastname@example.org for further info and updates.
Our Writing and Thinking section allows you to read more in depth research and critical writing and to consider the ideas around The Central Field and Adamstown as a location.
